ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP

The internship program at Keely Thorne Events was created to enable young professionals with the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the event industry, company standards, and on-the-job training. This position is typically a 3-month learning period where each individual can learn the KTE office and process, communicate with industry vendors and clientele, and learn daily operations for an event planner.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Interns at Keely Thorne Events must be committed to working Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, plus additional time on event weekends. In that time, they need to be comfortable with running errands and completing a variety of different tasks. It is important for all interns to be responsible, hardworking, and dedicated to assisting with anything that is needed.

BENEFITS AND OPPORTUNITIES

While the internship program at Keely Thorne Events is unpaid, you are given the opportunity to be exposed to the event industry. It is also a great networking opportunity with Houston event vendors. You are able to attend meetings with clients and vendors, ask your mentor or any planner questions, and receive on-the-job experience at a number of events. You may even be given the opportunity to travel for an event, and if so, the client will cover any travel and stay expenses.

ACHIEVEMENTS

During my internship at Keely Thorne Events, I have been given the opportunity to assist with nine weddings in a 3-month period. I have done weddings in Galveston, Colorado, and Houston. In my time interning, I have acquired new skills and have gained more knowledge than I could imagine. I have learned how to work in a professional, fast-paced, and high-intensity environment, ultimately preparing me for any future career in event planning. The primary skill I mastered was efficiency. In any task, from assembling welcome boxes with snacks to party favors, it is essential to complete the task as efficiently as possible in order to use your time wisely. Working in an efficient manner is valuable in any career, and I will value that skill.
